Written and Directed by Benny and Josh Safdie (AKA the Safdie Brothers. Uncut Gems" follows a few days in the life of Howard "Howie" Ratner, a Jewish New York City jewel dealer struggling to pay off various debts and an addict to the thrill of gambling. When Howie's business associate secures NBA star Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics as a client, Howie tries to deal him a rare Ethiopian diamond that he recently got a hold of. As Howie attempts to secure the deal over the diamond, he struggles to balance his crumbling family life, high-risk business endeavors, and his increasing debts that frustrate the wrong people.
The Safdie Brothers excel as filmmakers by constantly inducing conflict throughout the film and engaging the audience from start to finish with heart-stopping tension. Howie is constantly making things worse for himself and doing the absolute worst thing he possibly could in each situation, making us want to hop into the screen and slap him across the face to save himself from his horrible decision making. The directors generate consistent intensity by having Howie pervasively trying to fix his own doing and have him on the phone yelling and swearing. We as an audience never get a chance to catch our breathe, yet are still able to observe Howie as a character and analyze the true danger of his selfish personality and reckless lifestyle.
Howie is an obnoxious individual absorbed in his own vice, one we both can't stand yet can't keep away from. Sandler gives this slime-ball of a character a certain charisma and energy that makes him impossible to turn away from and carries the entire duration of the film with his electric and loose-canon of a performance. The already famous entertainer delivers the best performance of his career and redefines how we view him as an actor. Despite being an absolute snake of a human being, we somehow want Howie to succeed and get out of his predicaments due to Sandler's comedic charm that he instills in the character.
This is a very fast-paced film fueled with kinetic intensity and bleeding with style due to the Safdie Brothers' skills as directors and Sandler's game-changing performance. Outside of opening and ending with some questionable visuals, Uncut Gems" will leave you on the edge of your seat and hit you with an absolute punch of a third and final act. This is one of the most entertaining films of the year and shows off just how mesmerizing Adam Sandler can be as a dramatic actor and screen presence when given proper material.

I don't know what so say about a film that was already discussed a lot as this one, so i'll try to be a bit different of the other reviewers and will talk about two things in Grease's story which i found very interesting. Despite being lighthearted almost all the time, it has a couple of melancholic moments that are way too 'dark' to the film's nature. It's very clear to me, in my opinion. For example, Sandy turns into a 'bad girl' in order to be popular and to fit in the society in the end. So the then snob Danny now is the one running after her. That is very sad.
Also, Frenchy, Sandy's friend, drop out school to make beauty classes. However, after a while she needs to go back to school because she had failed with the beauty class. Smashed her dreams with no way back. That's depressive, man.
I'm just mentioning two melancholic highlights that no one seems to care about, mostly due to it's lighthearted treatment in the film.
Overall, it's a funny film to watch. The first and the last songs of the musical are by far the best of this musical in my opinion, but all of them are very well choreographed. Travolta really does a very good job, and so does his film's partner Olivia Newton John, which earn the role in Grease due to Travolta's recommendation.
Recommended, a musical classic. 7.5/10.

This is a good movie, I love the classic musical this movie puts out but I got to say that I'm disappointed with MPAA for rating this PG. This should be rated R. MPPA should be more trust-able then this. This movie has a lot sexual content. The song Greased Ligntnin is very sexual. There is strong sexual content in it's music. There is a sex scene also. I don't know how this movie got away with PG. This not a family musical. People need to read about this movie before watching it. Some people think it's a family classic, It's not. I do want to say that I love it, it's a good movie for people age 15. John Travolta looked younger then he actually was. He looks 17 years old in this movie but was actually 24. I like the classic Travolta movies better.

Nothing is funnier than a pack of misfits going on an adventure. If you liked Sex Drive or Hot Tub Time Machine 1, this will make you laugh a lot. This movie seems like it was written for an adult trio but always with three child protagonists in mind, so the interactions are hilarious. Quips and comebacks by the children are quite funny, and all child actors in this are great. Give a try if you're not easily offended by strong language and situations.
Some people will find the profanity - especially coming from a group of twelve-year-old boys - off-putting, vulgar and offensive. And it is, but that's the point of the movie.
Underneath this seemingly standard raunchy comedy that only appeals to the younger, less mature demographic is a heartfelt story of friendship, adolescence, and being there for the people that you care about.
The three stars do a fantastic job with the material they've been given. They deliver their lines in a humorous and entertaining way. And, no matter what this script threw at them, they were able to take it and run with it, maintaining the great chemistry they have with one another throughout the film. This is similar to what I would consider a modern-day Stand By Me to be. if Stand By Me had a stronger emphasis on inappropriate comedy.
This movie gave me the most fun experience I've ever had in a movie theatre back when it first came out. A lot of the jokes caught me off-guard which, of course, only made them funnier. I went with a friend and we were both cracking up throughout. The humour may be juvenile but you can be a coherent, mature adult and still find things in Good Boys that are worth laughing about. In a world as dark as the one we're currently living in, moments like what this movie gave me are more necessary than ever before, and Good Boys will always have a special place in my heart for giving us that.
